What are your climbing goals for this year? This year I want to climb some 13s right now I am barely climbing 12 and I think I will be able to do 13 by the end of the year.

Castleton Tower in April. I'm stoked beyond belief for it. After that I gotta set a new one. I'm going to Yosemite in the last week of March so I'm sure I'll find some new goals up there. I can't chase numbers though, not as rewarding for me as it is for some. I prefer to make a particular route my next goal. I have a feeling Incredible Hand Crack is going to be on my goal list sometime soon though.

So many goals!!! After a recent trip to the Blue Mt's I found new and exciting climbs to challenge myself with. The one that sticks out in my mind is a climb called Junket Pumper (grade 24 or 5.11c) It was one of the first climbs I got on while I was there, and I worked quite hard at it, through complete exhaustion and with a fair whack of determination. I fell many a time, hitting my leg quite badly, (I was rewarded with a large scar which I am quite proud of.) So that's my 'project', one of many I have in the Blueys. Goals are great, they push us harder and further, and when we stop our heads from telling our bodies we can't do something it's amazing what we can achieve. :D Elk

I agree with Moabbeth on not chasing numbers. I mean, this could be a real boring topic if everyone just stated the grade that they want to climb. my temporary goal: epinephrine at Red Rocks this season and the Open Book at Tahquitz.

Right, moabbeth is on target. Numbers are not it, for the most part. I'll explain more. Goal One: The Grand Teton. Did anybody else read the R&I issue on mountians? That sparked my already picqued interest in the Grand. I'd like to do that this year for sure. Goal Two: Mt. Olympus in SL. It's just such an aesthetic looking face from just about anywhere in the valley, how could you help but want to climb it? Goal Three: A trad lead 5.8. I know, it's a number, but where I live the numbers mean something to me. I know what a Salt Lake 5.6 or 5.7 is and I want to lead a SL 5.8 trad before the end of the season. Hopefully, this will come soon, like before summer and I can set my sights a bit higher. But for now it's 5.8. Goal Four: A sport 5.11. Again, this is a number, but one that has personal value that will give me personal satisfaction. And again, this is a SL 5.11, which means something to me. Goals are great. If you have nothing to work towards, how do you know when you get there?

1) to get my pale, gym rat a$$ outside to do some nice bouldering in the Gunks, Red Bluff, and Rumney 2)to stop being a wuss and push myself HARD! 3)to have more fun and climb more often those are the main ones. specifically, i want to work on slopers and the steeps, impriove my footwork and endurance, and try and get a woodie at my house. i would also like to become more worthy of my much-burlier-than-i-am climbing buddies' respect.

Charleston, NV to climb "Screaming Target" at Mt. Charleston and to attempt "Wailing Souls" at Charleston and to boulder V10 but these are GOALS and perhaps not all will be accomplished

1. recover from my shattered heel. 2. get stronger than i was before the injury. 3. Salathe in the fall. 4. A bunch more FA's in the Utah desert. 5. Resolution Arete, onsight, COMFORTABLY in one day with my girlfriend to make it the most pitches we've climbed in a single day on a route even though there are a handful of 3rd and 4th class pitches. 6. have a GOOOOOOD time doing it all.

1. Stick to my training schedule (train on my home wall during the week, and climb real rock on the weekends) 2. For my 24th birthday lead 24 routes on Mt Lemon 3. Take a climbing road trip for a week sometime this summer 4. Find a climbing partner that will actually show up every weekend. Any takers? I'll let you use my home wall.

Some of my goals (plans?) are... 1. To be as strong as I was before my knee surgery last October. 2. To be stronger than that. 3. To solo El Cap. 4. To do 3 long Cathedral routes in 3 days. 5. To try to do as many of the long, free routes on Middle Cathedral as possible. 5. To try to free as much of the Nose as I can. 6. To climb with more women. 7. To avoid injury!

- Get out on the rock more often (3-4x per week). - Redpoint a 5.11 sport route. - Find someone to teach me how to trad climb, then climb Prussik Peak (featured in Rock & Ice a few months back) in Northern Washington. Anyone in the Seattle area want to volunteer to teach me?

1.) To overcome my gym-induced trouble with top-outs, particularly on a few problems in the Gunks. 2.) To develop more confidence over sketchy landings. 3.) Climb more!

I`m wanting to put another aid route up on Mt. Warning, Northern New South Wales, Oz. The line I`ve got scoped out will be 250 metres high and close to another route that I was involved with putting up so I know it is doable. I`ve got the access dialled and a block of time set aside and even a couple of partners to act as porters. So all I`ve gotta do now is get up there and send that big sucker. I`m thinking it could go A3/A4 judging from the last route we put up.

I would like to get more confidence on lead. My friends and I are a bunch of U2 fans and there's a climb at the New called Rattle and Hum.
