Jeremy, I just read your PMs to me about the Mass DB and the get togethers that we've been talking about here...thanks for the replys/info unfortunately I don't think I realistically be able to make the QQ thing this saturday, but I'm going to make definite plans for the Rose Ledges get together... sounds like a blast, can't wait to hear about it...

saturday plans have changed, and there is a window of opportunity for me regarding the QQ climb , though I'd likely have to bail early... don't want to say it's a definite yet, but the odds just got a lot better ;-) on the QQ directions, is it referencing 93 north OUT of boston? *edit* never mind, I'm hooked up, thank you mapquest!

Stellalpina - I'll hook you up with a ride. Can you meet me in Davis Sq? It's one stop on the Redline from Alewife. Gabe O

Up here in New Hampshire we have three feet of snow by our driveway and it's hard as steel. Might possibly be time for my first-ever trip to QQ. Is Stewart Green's New England guidebook enough info to get there, or is there extra beta an out-of-towner should know about parking, finding folks, etc.?

From the north: -Exit 8 ( Furnace Brook Parkway) off 93 South, after you get through Boston. - At end of exit ramp turn right onto Riscuitto Dr. (Between the Mr. Tux and the big granite "Quarry Hills" sign. - straight up the hill to either the first or second parking area on right. Can't miss it. from the south is a little trickier but essentially the same. Just have to negotiate this rotary... www.bostonrocksonline.com actually uses QQ as it's online sample. You can view directions and a few of the route maps online in pdf form.

Uh, not to disappoint anyone, but it's "AmbLer" not "Amber". I'll be the old guy. Do you need more ropes, or already have enough?

You can take me off the "Maybe" list. I'm definately out. Son's b-day party tomorrow. I thought about bringing him ther instead but he'd come with 12 other screaming 7 yr. olds. Thought that MIGHT not be the relaxing first day of the season you all had in mind. Hope you all have fun. If it works well maybe it could be repeated, maybe I'll make RL in April. Wideguy

Hey guys, FWIW, I just swung by the quarries on my way back to work form Home Depot, (SHHH, don't tell) wall looks clean and dry. Except it's snowing right now so I don't know what accumulation is expected. The first parking area you see is fairly packed down and accessible. A little choppy but my Escort got in and out OK. Don't know about the second. If it's where I think it is there is a big gate there and it's completely plowed in. Bring your big 4x4's. All the snow is tight packed and if you stay light footed you won't break through. The ice at the bottom is plenty thick, evidence of a fairly recent campfire. That's how I went in. Didn't scope out up top as I came in the bottom. Hope you all have fun. I trust someone will post a cool TR. Wideguy

Hey bud, thanks for the report. Sorry to hear you can't make it. As far as parking goes, we should be fine if we ALL PARK ON THE QUARRIES SIDE OF RISCUITTI AVE. Just stay close to the side and if we're all on the same side no problem, right? See you all there!

I just checked weather.com and tomorrow is supposed to be mostly cloudy, 37F, the doppler showed only one band of precipitation off to the south (which must be the stuff that's falling there now) but nothing else out 1800 miles.... just might be cold, with not much sun to warm the wall(s)... unfortunately I'm still not a definite for tomorrow. It's very possible, but I really won't know for sure until the morning...

I'm so looking forward to this, first to meet all of you extremely gah-roovy peeps, second to climb ! I am bringing typ trad gear, lots of slings and biners, Shtuff for TR and my spanky new ropes, a 70m 10.5 and a 60m 9.6 rough em up ! I also have an extra harness and basic TR gig, atc, locking biners chalk bags. So if you forgot something ask bonesz he's most likely got it. I'll be there at 6am tying to figure out what "c" wall is to avoid embarassment.. (just kidding about the 6am) Oh, I may need a hand or three, to get all the goodies to the crag... See you there    :P

nice, I'm not the only one psyched ... one could make the arguement that this is the beauty of Massachusetts Craggin - you can be chillin at home in the morning then leave for a short drive to a decent crag ... ok so the temperature sucks, but C-Wall will provide the goods. Bonesz, you better not get there too early, I want hot coffee today. Hahaha.

I just wanted to say what a great time I had at QQ today!!! great to meet everyone though I've probably forgotten half your names...excellent climbing, though I feel like i didn't quite do my share on the donut consumption ;-) jeremy, I got a few bitchen pics of that first lead you did...I dunno if I'll get to post the the photos I took before tomorrow evening, but as soon as I do I'll give the URL here... my fingertips hurt and my feet are sore, damn those 1/4-inch ledges! ;-) Robb

Out side at last, it wouldn't have been as much fun without you all. You are all very cool folks, I'll get coffee for ya anytime ! Lots of fun ! Rob you made me look really bad, did you not redpoint anything today ? Ugh, I'm out of practice on real rock. Oh, and I'm very envious of all your racks. I guess I'm a pubescent gear buyer  We'll see 'bout that next time...

Today was awesome! I love meeting new people to climb with and sharing ropes. Way too many donuts, plenty of coffee, lots of rock to climb balmy temps in the upper 30s, WHAT A BLAST! Alright, so I'd like to do a "roll call," if I may, because my memory is so bad. here are the people I can instantly remember as being there. Please help me add more. orangekyak ambler multisport bonesz tcollins jumarringjeff foograbbinstone robbovius centmass cracklover stellalpina eljaguar mcsurley mcsurley's bud pre-rc.com'ers - dan and jackie This list represents, geographically, jamaica plain, waltham, somerville, cambridge, gloucester, milford, durham (nh), leominster, and more ... I apologize to those whom I've already forgotten, and to mcsurly and pal for forgetting your identities. Can someone help me clarify and complete this list? Thanks, o.k.
