Russ is the man! I gave him an order last Friday (May 2) for a double wammy plus some other goodies Russ delivered! BTW I like Yates adjustable daisy for lowering (sorry pete) and I got a pair of Fishs with the extra strap sweeeet. Of course, Im a gumby, so no other real experience here another than I looked hard at a BD double and almost bought it glad I did not This ledge pops together very fast/easy and is solid appears very well laid out daisies, top/bottom adjusters and all. However, in the Rush I did not get any instructions for my new 5 seasons fly. Can someone give me some pointers on setting up the fly? I assume/have made it to this point: 1. Connect top outside of fly to PP 2. Connect top of 6 ledge slings to top inside of fly 3. strap in the back side 3 straps (2 corners and middle) 4. put the pole together and hook it in one of the back corners. 5. ? Not sure what to do with the rest of it? 3 large circles with 2 webbing loops on front inside. Tie down loops along the edges of the outside Draw string around the edge. Anybody got one of these jewels and can help me out from here? Any on-wall helpful sequences much appreciated. Chad

In reply to: 1. Connect top outside of fly to PP 2. Connect top of 6 ledge slings to top inside of fly 3. strap in the back side 3 straps (2 corners and middle) 4. put the pole together and hook it in one of the back corners. 5. ? I have an older version, without the corner and middle straps, but the strategy is the same. The pole threads through the loops in the re-enforced circles before it is braced in the corners pockets.
In reply to: Tie down loops along the edges of the outside Draw string around the edge. Again, not sure of the straps, but when you level your ledge, get it snugged up. The drawstring is to secure the fly around the bottom of the ledge, i.e. the bottom of the ledge is up inside the fly, which wraps around and snugs with the drawstring. This is important not only for stormproofness, but at least in the fly I have, there is extra heavy fabric where the ledge rubs the fly against the wall. If your ledge is too low, it will wear through the fly in a non-reinforced area. Hope this helps get you by. Perhaps Russ can weigh in and correct my mistakes... Brutus [edit -- wank factor out of control -- Never mind. Follow the instructions at Russ's site.]

Ok, I hung it from the garage ceiling. If it was raining, very nice - your are under the fly the whole time you are setting the thing up. It was easy to setup. The draw string now makes more sense, you can reach the back side drawstring through the middle frame while inside and of course the front one is easy to reach. Question - the fly does not pull taught like a tent would right? It just lays against the 6 leveling/suspension straps. Is the pole only used for in/out/ air and haul bag access? It would make a huge basin to catch water along the front edge over the pole. Am I missing something here? Chad

Hanging from a ceiling is not against a wall..... the front of the fly is longer than the rear so there will be some slop in a free hanging situation. Try it against a wall. Another trick (but don't over do it) is to set the thing up all snug like and then slightly lower out the suspension to put some tension on the fly. It should be pretty tight after this. Sounds like you are getting the "hang" (bad pun) of it though. Good luck and let me know if you need any more info.... Russ
