Is the Metolius El Cap Haul Bag the one to get? Are there other contenders? I noticed the BD Zion Haul Bag is a lot cheaper. How does it compare?

The Metolius is considered to have the best suspension system for carrying it to and from the cliff, the worst part of doing a wall.

I have a Metolius El Cap and it's great, but others have espoused the virtues of the Metolius Half Dome. It's shorter and fatter than the El Cap, making it easier to access stuff on the bottom. It also has less cubes than the El Cap, so there is a trade off. The Yates Fat Sack has the best suspension -- even beefier than the Metolius. And it looks every bit as bomber, if not more so. You do pay the price, though. I think retail is around $330. I got to see the BD haul bag side by side with the Yates and Metolius products while at the Mountain Shop. The BD is not nearly as sturdy looking. Not a clear, well-stitched clip in point below the haul bag; haul bag material is less sturdy. Not sure how this translates into actual performance on the wall, but the Metolius and Yates certainly look like they will hold up better than the BD. Ed

I have the Metolius HD and although it didnt make it up the wall, carrying it on the hike was really comfortable and if you hate hikeing as much as I do that makes all the diffrence in the world. It was bewteen the HD and the Yates for me but the price is 100$ dif. so I went with the HD. It has clip in loops on the inside, and a little pocket.
