I am getting old, I just found out I needed glasses, three days later, they are here. They make my face hurt, but WOW!!!!! everything is so big and clear. Anybody out there gone through this?, did it affect your climbing?, do you wear them when climbing? (apparently, I am far sighted), I'm not sure I like this. Suggestions from blind people (like me)welcome, I don't think seeing eye dogs are into climbing, but if necessary, what kind of dog can climb say 5.7 trad? beta

My Australian Shepherd can do some amazing stuff, you might ask him for some help. Good luck on the glasses, I think I might be in need of some soon and YIKES!

Are those the ones with one blue eye and one brown eye?, they are cool and smart too. I was thinking of maybe a Vizsla, very energetic, smart and loving, they can also clean aliens very well, and can climb 5.8 easy, 5.9 if you don't clip their nails. beta

The wise and witty woodsE says: Glasses can be all right but they make make you dizzy when climbing cause your eyes will be looking through the magnefied glass at times and then through the spaces where the glass is not and this happens a ton of times in a few minutes so it kinda sucks. I suggest contacts, that is what I wear and I have had no problem whatsoever. Plus glasses fall and get broken and bent.... woodsE

Yep woodse, your right, but I can't stand, and confirmed by my eye doc, that contacts aren't right for me. Hey, maculated, how are things in in SLO town, you going to tech? beta

i climb in glasses. i wear my cheap ones that i don't care about. i sometimes climb without them (they're really weak) but i prefer to wear them. ultra nerd moment #1632: getting your glasses knocked off when on top rope. sigh.

I couldn't climb with my old glasses and therefore used contacts. I have since bought a new pair and have yet to try them out.

I have been wearing glasses for about 2 years now and I don't have a problem with them while climbing. A buddy of mine uses croakies to keep from loosing his but I do not. I would suggest getting some sunglasses too. Although it sucks having to switch back and forth between the two pairs all the time. I can see alright without my glasses (I don't wear them when I go kayaking for example) but I have trouble seeing things like anchor slings and rock features froma distance without them so I have to wear them while climbing. Next time I go to the doctor though I am going to ask about contacts.

Me specs are of the ultralight variety, and I just tuck the stems into my bandana when I'm climbin'... but I do have contacts, and I like wearing them too, unless it's really windy... sometimes schneff flies off the rock into one o' me contacts, which sucks out loud.
