I went to the University of Oklahoma, majoring in international relations, then went to West Texas A&M University and majored in General Studies. Now I am in the NAvy majoring in stupidity (really I am a journalist) and I can't wait to get back to real college and party some more. woohoo.

NYU in New York City, 1 credit shy of a BM Cello Performance. A good bowel movement is more useful and satisfying to complete than a BM, so i'm not sad tendinitis shut me down for my senior recital and caused me not to graduate. After 5 years of life on the outside, the chances of me ever being a college graduate are diminishing daily. If I were to go back, it would likely be for Geology.

Currently at the University of Tulsa, majoring in Psychology, minoring in Anthropology... But, when I first got here I was a Piano Performance Major... Still my first love, and still very very very very very tempting to go back to....

don't even think about it marni. getting out of music is the smartest thing you've ever done. i did pretty well in the professional scene in NYC before my injury, and figuring out there was no way i could do it professionally anymore was one of the greatest days of my life.

I have a BS in Theatre Performance from Lamar University and a MA in Advertising from University of Texas, Austin.

I use the skills learned in both programs daily to act like I know what I'm doing and spin it the right way when it becomes apparent I'm bluffing.

thanks for the advice... one of the things that keeps me from going back is the fact that i still wanna love the piano, and i DO have an injury, if it gets any worse, surgery will be in my near future, which would totally end any career to speak of. I just have so many people trying to pull me back in...
the dark side is hard to resist.....

dont listen to atg .. he's just a grumpy old fart .. though, if i had to choose between piano and avoiding surgery, i'd avoid the surgery .... well, actually, knowing me .. i'd be a stubborn butthole and end up having the surgery.

don't listen to clymbr_chk - she has no experience being a professional musican ;) besides, unless you are *really* good - and almost no one outside the major music schools back east and in europe is that good - most music majors end up working in book stores and things like that. i would suggest going to new york and hanging out with some of the folks at manhattan school of music and julliard, and observing two things:

1. they are unbelievably good
2. they are unbelievably screwed up people

I haven't even read this thread, but as a recovering guitarist, I will wholeheartedly agree with atg200.

musicians are a dime a dozen. decent, reliable, and pragmatic musicians are fricking rare.
