So, I'm going to be useing a double rope system. What is the best way of keeping trak of both of them at belay stations, especially hanging belays? Coiling them up while belaying a second and maybe a third seems like a lot of work to do all at once. got any tricks?

Yes...it is a pain in the butt, but not coiling them up can lead to an even more painful anal orifice: Stuck ropes. Coil one over your anchor connection and one over your feet at hanging belays. Resist the temptation to coil both together, because it will be harder to feed out one rope at a time during traverses w/o tangles. Traddad

I'm probably stating the obvious here but buy different coloured ropes...

The Metolius rope hook is good , but if you are in a hurry it might be better to stack one rope over each foot. Petzl's Gi-Gi works really good when belaying two seconds. Jeff

Yeah these cats are right.. Try a petzl Reverso for ease of belaying multiple lines on the second and two rope hooks for keeping the mess under control. Have fun!
