I just finished climbing and I am wondering what is the best way I can clean it without damaging it.

1. Go to local laundromat. Bring a dollar's worth of quarters and a paperback book.

2. Put rope in a front-loading washer.

3. Add some Woolite.

4. Gentle cycle, cold water.

5. Wait till the washer stops.

6. Remove rope.

7. Flake rope over teh shower curtain rod at home (or other suitable place not in direct sunlight or over a heating vent, etc.) to air dry.

8. Wait till the rope is dry.

9. Prevent further instances by purchasing a rope bag and not climbing in the mud.

That is all.

You're welcome. :)

Dude: several things you can do:

1) go to the mfg web site and read the literature. Some Mfg sell rope washing soap.
2) read the card that came with the rope
3) off to the left is something that says search, click forums search: Rope washing, and behold the millions of words already written.

I'd go with 3, its been beaten to death already.

Luck:

right on reno, but make sure all the detergent (woolite) is rinsed out. it can be annoying if not, very sticky. good luck.

Do a search. Look at the manufacturers site. Or just wash the thing in your bathtub and hang it to dry. Use woolite or rope wash.

thank you Reno for your advice
BTW I own a rope bag but I was climbing a slab and it was muddy.
My reel mistake was not to bring my dry rope for climbing this time of the year.
