I need to stretch my brand new shoes in two days for my trip. Is it possible? How should I do it? Wear them in the shower or what? Thanks

For quick custom fit: Put shoes on, get them wet, and endure the pain for a few hours while they dry. Once they are dry, they will fit perfectly.

Some cobblers have a machine that will stretch shoes fast. They charged me about $5. Better pay with money than with your feet. Call local shoe repair places Peace karl

The getting them wet trick only works if the shoe is all leather. If the shoe has a synthetic inner, the shoe won’t stretch worth a dam.

One day at summer camp, while I was tooling around on our bouldering wall, shroomin off my eyeballs, it started to rain like CRAZY. We're talkin just water up the wazoo... Anyway, I was too far gone to take off my shoes, and left em on for a few hours in the rain, and then out. Needless to say, they did stretch to fit my feet, and I was really pissed when they wore out last week. They were the Mad Rock Flash shoes. They fit my feet so incredibly well, and then when i bought the same shoes in hte same size, it just wasn't quite the same.

Because they were only $30, I purchased a pair of new climbing shoes that were 1/2 size smaller than my normal climbing shoe size. After trying a number of ideas and suggestions from friends on how to stretch them, I came up with the following, and it worked beautifully! First, I thoroughly soaked the shoes with warm water. Next I took a pair of my father's cedar shoe stretchers (those things that old men put in their dress shoes to keep them looking like new and smelling decent when they are not being warn), and unscrewed the backs from the fronts. I Jammed the shoe stretcher fronts in towards the toe of the climbing shoe as hard as I could. Then I jammed the heel of the stretchers in behind the fronts, in a vertical position with the heel end down in the shoe. This made the system in the shoe extremely snug. I let the shoes dry this way and now they are a perfect fit. I have been climbing in them for a few months and they still fit wonderfully tight.

I hate Madrock shoes!!!! I drove over 2 hours to get a pair of Hookers. While at the store the sales person informed to to get them a full size smaller because they would stretch that much. I couldn't stand the pain for even a minute. I ended up buying the size that I wear in regular shoes, which were still really tight. I wore them climbing for about 2 hours and had blisters in three places on my left foot. Okay I thought, they will stretch. Nope, not even a little bit. My friend bought the same shoes, same size he wears in normal shoes and had the same problem. After a few weeks of wearing the shoes around the house, we knew we were rooked. We called the place where we bought them and they wouldn't exchange them. I wrote Madrock and email and they responded something like "take them back to the store." After telling them the store would not exchange them, they said "Too bad, sorry. Oh, and by the way our shoes won't stretch more than a half size". Yeah, I don't like them. PS if anyone wants a pair of Madrock Hookers for 50 bucks, worn once for a few hours, US size 10. let me know. mat_boyles@yahoo. US only

If they are mad rocks you can forget it, the stretch is minimal. I thought I had it figured out with a pair of hookers. I put them on and put a hair dryer on hot and got the rubber so hot on top that my foot was burning. They stretched some and got fairly comfortable but contracted again after they cooled off. When you buy mad rocks you better make sure that they are comfortable the first time you put them on.

The wet thing worked well for me,. I'll also add shoe trees, find a pair of wood or plastic sprung shoe trees to keep them from shrinking.

I bought a small spray bottle of 'leather stretcher' at a shoe repair shop for 5 bucks. THis is after I wore the 5.10 newtons for 3 months in agony. THey are a synthetically lined shoe. I sprayed the stretcher over the big toes where it hurt, and wore em at the gym. The shoes stretched, and fit great.

Mike_the_Sumo got it right. Water + Cedar (not plastic... fungus issues) shoe trees that will stretch the shoes to the desired size. Leave the shoe trees in when you are not climbing. p.s. Buying shoes too small... not good no matter what people tell you.
