www.dpreview.com is an absolutely awesome website for digital cameras. I bought a kodak dc210 back in 1997, and found this site shortly afterwords. Last month, I upgraded to a nikon coolpix 5000, making the decision based upon the reviews and forums (great discussion communities for many cameras at this site). A couple example photos are here : 1997 kodak dc210 (1mp) : http://www.pbase.com/image/1050545 2002 nikon coolpix 5000 (5mp) : http://www.pbase.com/image/1245495 I wanted to upgrade from 1mp to 5mp because I started getting better at photography and photoshop (http://www.pbase.com/image/1245494), and found that I was being limited by the old kodak - not enough resolution, limited zoom, only Point&Shoot, very slow shutter response times (lag times!) - preventing me from taking the climbing shots I desired. Now, I have a camera that is far more sophisticated than I am. I am excited about growing to be able to take advantage of all of it's features. Anyway, the website, and comments from experts who reside there really helped me find the right camera. C ps: on pricing, both cameras were sub $1000 when I bought them. I took about 3500 photos with the first camera, and have already taken several hundred with the cp5k. I think it is money very well spent, and I expect it to last me for several years. c

You also probably want to check the camera reviews on http://www.photo.net/ - they also have good digital camera reviews. - d.
