question for all of you out there who have pasted a head and had it hold their weight...

.. which set of tools do you use? --

.. i did a search ont he site and read ptpp's article .. also read russ's excellent article

http://www.fishproducts.com/howto/howto.html

.. so i've got a good idea of what is needed.. but want some feedback from the folks who are actually pasting these f*ckers on the sharp end ..

.. anyone have any feedback on russ's headmaster kit? -- seems like a pretty good place to start .. (add a blow tube, and a wire brush..) ...

Copperhead will be able to dial you in better than I will, but I just bought the chisels from Fish (very nice btw) and use my bag from my bolt kit.

Large Chisel for big heads, Small chisel for little heads, punch for exra pasting and really small heads. All of them dull so not to cut the head. I have wrist loops for my chisels and just hang them on a biner when not being used. Grab some heads and you chisel a crappy boulder and start setting and bouncing them to failure and see what holds.

Well...It takes alot of paste. I would recommend the creamy kind...not too stiff, but not too runny either. It helps to stay on the head while it dries. I would also recommend shaving the head first, as the hair can often get in the way. However, for experienced head pasters, they may use this to thier advantage, to creatr a sort of composite material. Very stiff, and very ddifficult to remove.

As far as supporting your weight...well...that's all dependant on the ehad you use. You dont want permanent damage to result from a weighting that's too forceful or intense. A gradual weighting is the best. If you break the ehad while weighting it the first time, it wont be around to weight again. And you could get charged with some serious offenses.

As for cleaning the pasted head, I find the average swirly just isn't enough, unless you use a water soluble paste. Liberal application of heat and solvents, carefully so as not to get them in the eyes or other mucous membranes, is the fastest way to go.

Good luck and happy pasting!!

Remember the tools with wrist loops that I showed you at the base of El Cap? Maybe I should start selling them again...

I have the headmaster kit and it works well but I think Bryan and Klaus have the advantage with their setups. Brutus has an interesting concept as well.

That said when I get my swager I'm planning on rigging up my chisels from Fish the way Bryan and Eric do. I've always worried about dropping one, maybe now I won't worry as much...

I wonder why they no longer have the chisel.

I think they became mgear.com because the adress for both companies is now the same. What this means is that shoreline will likely become total junk. I would be surprised if they continue to buy from Erik since they don't carry any specialty gear really.

You're right.... Goddamn it. I wondered why it looked like Shoreline was out of everything... That was a great place.....

RIP Shoreline...... We'll miss you...
