So, If someone happened to fumagate a room full of your climbing gear (harnesses and ropes) as well as hardware, with active constituents: Permethrin and Fenoxycarb, would it be safe to rinse the gear and then use it? Who would have a this knowledge, rather than an educated guess. I assume the hardware is fine, and my lack of fleas is pleasent, but everything else sucks. Steve

i'm assuming u already did this and are asking if u gear (which has been fumagated) is still safe? probably should have asked BEFORE leaving hte gear inside... anyway i would call the gear companies... give Petzl a call, tell them the names of the chemicals used, exposure time, concentration ect... and i am sure they will help u out. i don't know anything about the chemicals used, but i certainly would NOT use them without talking to someone who knows (not some guy online who says it is fine...).

the thing of it is, whether or not the chemicals would hurt the gear, the companies are going to tell you to toss it all and that it is not safe. they will want to avoid any liablity for telling you that it is safe, and have it not be; and if they tell you its not safe, that means you will go spend money on new gear, helping them out.

replying soley on the topic of this thread... i don't think your chemicals would be much affected by exposing them to climbing gear. but thats just me (caveat - this is a joke not a flame. steve should only feel offended if his first language IS english)

house mates would never be considerate enough to flea bomb your gear/room, only a mum would care so much about the fleas and so little about the climbing gear!
