cheers

ACDSee has these batch resize functions too, and costs a fraction of PS 7.0....

I love ACDSee for my digital pictures, really easy for slideshows, and the standard adjustmenttools are also included...

You can create Actions in photoshop to handle batch resizing jobs.

However, as mentioned PSD is an expensive solution if you don't already have it.

I haven't used ACDSee for years but I always thought it was a ver nice little app. If it now has batch resize capability that's a great option for you.

If you are using Windows XP, Microsoft offers a free Powertoy download for resizing pictures. It's quick to use, and there is no need for batch files. Just select the pictures you want to change in Windows Explorer, right click and choose resize.

Unfortunately, there is no control over compression, however, dimensions can be adjusted, or you can use the default settings (640x480, 800x600, etc.).

Link is here: http://download.microsoft.com/...zerPowertoySetup.exe

Hope this helps.

Check out Photoshop Elements, it's the non-professional version of Photoshop, it's much cheaper and has less functionality but unless you’re a designer or professional photographer you probably don't need all of that anyway.

The GNU Image Manipulation Program will do just about anything that photoshop will do, including resize images. It's free. You can find it at:

Ok you want reize abilies, compression abilities, and well i know of one that has not only those but also it can OPEN virtually any format, change it and do many other things.

Want to know what it's best feature is?!

ITS FREE....

Irfanview goto http://www.irfanview.com/ i have been using it for over a year now and i love it for fast simple things like resizing and just plan viewing any dang file type i can find.

Irfanview.....wow that program does a whole lot for free. Now I don't really know much about PS and i'm sure IR doesn't do as much as it does but for resizing and some simple effects it does a great job and best of all is FREE!

Hail to the Gimp! 2.0 might even be usable by windows n00bs.

I built my website with the Gimp and it worked out fine :-) (http://www.flaver.com/ -- will probably automate it using Gallery though, I have too many pictures now that I own a digicam) Could be a steep learning curve for a new user though.

If you can find ImageMagick for Windows or something like it, that might be best...

Not sure on the newer version of Gimp, but i had problems using it in windows that is when i found out about Irfanview. Yet i do love GIMP and Linux, Freeware, all that stuff so maybe i should recheck on the new version of GIMP.
