In reply to: Lynn Hill is the only one who can call "The Nose" a trad climb because she free'd every pitch on lead. I disagree slightly. Once an aid route has been freed, I think that it is legitimate to refer to it as a free climb, or a "trad" climb, as Mike is using the term. I don't have to be able to free climb the Nose to recognize that it has now been established as a free climb. -Jay

Ten pitches up and the trad leader finds himself in need of aid gear because of semantics....

Sport v.s. Traditional. Who will win? Find out tomorrow on Rockcliming.com. It's like the grumpy old emotional trad climbers v.s. the cocky jock spandex wearing sport climbers. Lynn Hill is badass, so why are we disrespecting her by having her name in the title of this lame thread? Just do your thing.

In reply to: the Nose is a trad route, it takes gear. it is an aid route for 99.99% of the climbers in the world. Some aid. The vast majority of Nose climbers free quite a bit. 2/3 of it is 5.10 or less.

In reply to: is Scott Burke still climbing? Yes. I've heard of him doing other cool stuff in the Valley. He's strong, but it didn't seem like he had it in him to send it in a push, nevermind a day.
