Hey There, I've been hanging onto my old guide thinking about replacing it with the Newer (95!)Rubine Second Edition. Does anyone know if a new one is coming out sooner rather than later? Trying to guage if it's worth waiting for. Thanks, Marc

Don't bother, the new one is just full of stupid little variations so the author could get his name in his own book more.

Brad Young, author of the Sonora Pass Highway climbing guide has been working on the new guidebook for the pinnacles. As far as I know, the new guidebook will include SEVERAL HUNDRED climbs not in the 95' Rubine guide. As to when it comes out..... I don't know - If I run into Brad i'll ask -

I am not aware of any new book for Pinnacles. This link may provide a good start http://www.pinnacles.org/. You can find new route info, rebolting info and lots of other stuff.

In reply to: Is the book nesary? Is this place far from santa Barbra? Im looking for some camping and climbing- bouldering, or sport climbing...Please help! Actually, only a couple hours. Turn right at King City, go North on hwy 25. There is camping on the East Side entrance only. The east and west sides do not connect via road directly. Not much quality bouldering, though the West Side has enough to keep you busy for hour or two if you are just stopping in with the family. Both sides have bolted lines at all ranges. They sell the book at the Entrance stations btw.
