I love Tami's cartoons and she has a better handle on whats going on in the climbing world then most so called climbers. I remember reading an interview in an old climbing magazine and being introduced to the wonderful phrase "creamed my jeans" which I used as often as possible much to the dismay of my girlfriend at the time I am not sure if there is a topic here but i just wanted everyone to know that Tami is the best and I worship her from afar Ben I am rat and I used to be hard I also eschew clothing

Being form BC she has a different take on things most don't quite get. That's why we find her so damn funny
checkout the site. http://www.tamiknight.com/index.htm [ This Message was edited by: smellydude on 2002-04-07 19:59 ]
I just saw jt512's new sig and thought I start a thread. Then I figured there might be something sitting in storage (not unlike my Tami Knight books) and did a search. I don't run into too many climbers these days who know her work. I have several of her books that I bought, I think, in the early nineties. I haven't seen them in stores since, though, and those single-frame cartoons in the mags just aren't as funny as her early categorizations of sport climbers, trad climbers, ice climbers and cavers. Need to dig those out of storage and reread them so I can cream my jeans all over again. Too funny! A few TK cartoons would have set the retro-bolt thread on its ass, fer shure. [sly]

blacksamba starts this thread on tami knight by saying "she has a better handle on climbing than most so called climbers". this implies that tami is not a climber. she has a very distinguished resume, including many FAs and FFAs at squamish, most of which were done with peter croft. shes a pro!!

"Cream my jeans" is a line from '80s Toronto band "Rough Trade," from the song "High School Confidential." I'm thinking, being one of us, i.e. Canadian, she most likely got the line from there, if from no where else.

Maybe, but I heard that expression when I was in high school in the early 70's I'm guessing the origin comes from mid-60's, possibly a bit earlier. TS

Perhaps, but the rumour goes that things take a bit longer to come to Canada. :)

I used to laugh so hard I blew chips reading Tami Knight and I am NOT Canadian. Roger Hyperconscious Master of the Extreme, People with Their Head up Their Ass Everest Expedishin, The Lunatic Ice Climber with Few or No Functioning Brain Cells. I guess there's no explaining humor, but to me, at times, she was pure genius. Looks like a lot of her books are out of print, which is too bad for the young-uns out there, but this hilarious cover drawing should give them some idea of her great sense of humor:
