is this a post to list the extreme sports??? Well if we were to believe all the advertising, there is a whole bunch more.... Skateboarding, Freestyle BMX, Freestyle MX, wakeboarding, snowboarding, (the sport where motor cyclists tackle obsticles using bunnyhops, traverses, and an insane amount of balance, I would say that is pretty extreme) Cliff diving, Wakeboarding behind a kite, Freestyle Sailboarding, Parkour (there was a post recently on this site with a video link... probably the most extreme think that I have ever seen) Downhilll Street Luge, Downhill Skateboarding... and I still probably missed a bunch.....

"Extreme Sports" are when mainstream yuppies take thier credit cards and buy the flashiest toys for sports that would go nowhere fast without gravity and dramatics in order to turn heads and inflate egos. Vomit, Vomit, Vomit! That's why I love climbing. It slowlly goes in the opposite direction of both gravity and the mainstream!

I once saw a poster that said "Climbing, mountain biking, and skiing are the only real sports. The rest are just hobbies."

In reply to: (the sport where motor cyclists tackle obsticles using bunnyhops, traverses, and an insane amount of balance, I would say that is pretty extreme) That would be trials. You lose points if you put a foot down. Obstacle courses can be natural or manufactured. 8 years ago when I was in Germany I saw an indoor trials comp on TV, and those guys are insanely good (it amy have been a world cup event). The most amazing obstacle was the stack of logs that were over 10 ft high with vertical sides. These guys rode straight at it, then up the side, and landed on top. Trials has exhisted for many many years, long before "x-treme" sports was a catagory. I personally like bicycle trials riding. Those guys have amazing bike handling skills. Back in the day Hans Rey was the king of bicycle trials riding. http://www.trials.com.au/
