Gary Andrew Zaccor passed away on March 20, 2004. Son of Martha and Jim Zaccor. Survived by his three treasured children Torrie 12, Austin 10 and Allee 4; his parents; two devoted siblings, Scot and Karen and a devoted niece Karla. Gary grew up in the Palo Alto-Menlo Park-Atherton (CA) area and at a young age(16) discovered his love of rock climbing. In the late seventies-early eighties, Gary became a Yosemite Valley local and worked thru the grades rapidly due to his intense drive, focus and determination. He had a natural talent on granite that made people marvel. His early ascents of Owl roof, and Pisano overhang were legendary. He had so much enthusiam that he encouraged others to push their limits to improve. He climbed with many great and talented climbers. Later in life he started his own Tree Service in the SF Bay area, turning his talent with climbing and rope handling into a profitable venture. He wanted more so in the late 80's he turned Zaccor Tree Service towards demolition and formed Zaccor Companies. This venture engaged primarily in marine salvaging and demolition. Gary was a mentor to me in rock climbing and in business. His perspective in life was unique. He taught me how to harness my drive and determination. I will sorely miss him.
