What's a good method to reduce the file size of a pic down to the minimums for posting? I generally leave my digital camera on the highest resolution on the off chance I get a good shot but as a result the pics are much too large to submit. The camera software doesn't appear be able to adjust the file size. So far I've printed the pics, scanned them, then backed down the file size through the scanner software.

In reply to: So far I've printed the pics, scanned them, then backed down the file size through the scanner software. i hope you are kidding... since you have a scanning software, it should have somekind of image viewer/resizer bundled. otherwise there is photoshop of course, or you can use freeware image programs, such as irfanview or gimp

The photo submition system will automatically resize for you, but if you have dialup, it will take a long time to upload a full rez image. Almost any image editing software will be able to resize and recompress your image, see my article for more details. Post a reply listing the software you have, and I can probably tell you where to look to resize stuff. my article http://www.rockclimbing.com/articles/view.php?ID=199
