These are pics of my wall going up, and in use. The main support for the wall, and roof section in particular- was a huge old oak tree. I used 2x6 - lagged back to the tree. - The other supports are 4x4 - cemented in 3 feet. Then I bridged back that corner to the shed. Anyway - kinda fun in building, but way fun to climb on. I even threw a little top rope up, as the top out over the roof was about 16' up. The holds are all different kinds, but I definetely used stainless steel bolts. Treated the whole wall with 2 coats of stain, and one coat of textured paint. It has become a nightly ritual to grab a workout after dinner. Have fun building your own out there, and don't ever overlook an outside wall if you have a tree like this one in your yard.

Thanks man, - I ended up finishing the whole thing for about $1100 - including holds. ( about 120 holds and 25 jibs ) I also surrounded the wall with a bunch of washed pea gravel to soften the landings, and then put up 3 - 120 watt backyard spotlights to light it up at night. More than once we've had 5-6 guys out with the music blaring and then the beer starts flowing and the whole night goes straight to  - but that's another story.

looks nice

but i wouldn't have nailed/screwed the framing to that tree.....if it gets real windy, and that trees grabs the wind, it'll twice your wall to shit, and there goes its strength, etc....also, this prob isn't a problem, but after along period of time, the tree grows...same thing but i'm sure the wall won't be up for that long

....just being devils advocate.....otherwise, climb on, climb hard

enjoy cracking the plastic..
