Just got back from Yos -- ran into Jake and his partner, Carsten, at the base as they were humping loads up to Mescalito, and then saw them yesterday a day after they got down. Hell of a nice job on the successful send, guys! It was nice to finally met the "Bigwalling" dude -- great guy. Congrats! Ed

Greetings All, Yes, Jake did well. We climbed Mescalito in a leisurely 6 days with one more of fixing. He led half the pitches including several C3's. We did the entire route clean and generally had a ton of fun. I thought it was crazy when at the top of the 4th pitch Jake told me that was the highest he'd been off the deck. Well, we ended up going alot higher. The walls were empty. Our first couple of days there was not a single soule on the east side of el cap. I'll let him give the a full blow-by-blow account when he returns in a few weeks. I hope to see some good stuff from him in the future. As for me, I'll be back in the valley in the fall looking to free climb a bit and maybe get on Zenith. Carpe Diem, Karsten

Hmm... that's pretty funny stuff. My brother sprays more than I do. I'm light duty though, last 2 days were hard and I wanted off. I bailed on the valley yesterday, started feeling pretty terrible. Got pulled over once and was let off for driving like a radical. Ammon and Ivo along with Austin were climbing Shortest Straw in a push. I don't know how they did time wise. They are both really cool guys and Austin is a real cool kid. We all did some easy free climbing togather, I didn't do any aid with them though. Ammon is a proud aid climber where as I'm a gumby. Mescalito is a nice route with easy aid, my C1 felt the same as C3, so it's a good first wall. It was a good wall to learn systems on. Karsten was a great partner too! I think next up is something like the Straw, maybe this fall/winter. Maybe right before school starts. By the way I don't think of myself as being any good, I'm just an average climber. My brother just thinks it's cool and knows that it was important for me to climb it. I don't plan on be sponsored anytime, I have my gear anyways.

As in there is nothing hard on it. I remember the C1 being a bunch of small aliens, I also remember a few C3 sections being the same. I'll just call it Ceasy. The difficulty is in how long of route it is. I'm looking forward to doing something hard soon, but not as long. Mac, that wasn't me. Austin and I walked under you a few minutes later to go do Pine Lane.
