My big toe nail is pushing out past the edge of the sole. It doesn't hurt, but will it damage the shoe or will they stretch more in the toe and allow my toe to curl more? they are 5.10dragons

I've trashed two pairs of shoes this way! My right, big toe pokes through before the shoes wear out. I need to start wearing bigger shoes... Not sure about the dragons, but on my old Katanas and now Madrock Flash, both time the toe has eventually worn through the rand and fabric underneath. Might get them resoled and re-randed, but no point if the shoes are just too small.

Tape your toe nail before you put your shoe on!

I don't know if B's situation is like mine, but it has nothing to do with the toenail "cutting" the material--it's just the toe and toenail pushing through the rand til it splits.

In reply to: I have a silly idea!! CUT YOUR TOENAILS!! Or, you can do like me and have the toenail permanently removed.

I also have this problem. Ironically I've had it with my street shoes too, the quick of my nail ends right at the edge of my toe so I just can't cut it short enough. I think the suggestion of taping over the toenail with some climbers tape might be a good idea... But again, it's not as if the nail is cutting the shoe... it's more just the pressure put on that small of an area. I've just resorted to cutting my nails as short as possible the morning before climbing, and that seems to help a little. Good luck, if you get any great suggestions, pm me.

If I get this right- the toe nail is pushing into the sole of the shoe, which means the toe is curled downward. These are snug shoes, they are climbing shoes. The toe nail need not be longer than the toe to have this issue. I would recomend upgrading the shoe size by one or trying a different brand.
