Planning a road trip this fall. I am driving from CO and meeting a friend driving from Tahoe. WE had talked about a Needles trip, Too cold then? I am thinking we may be better off going to Jtree or Red Rocks? However, anyone climbed in the needles this time of year?

Good time for The Needles. Actually the best time for much of it, (or early spring) Routes on Voodoo, (White Punks etc.) and Dome Rock, (S Facing) are to hot in summer. Smaller crowds, no bugs either. Edit to add: Get in on the snowfall pool at the Ponderosa. Predict the day and time one inch of snow sticks at the gas pumps. Not before late Nov. most likely.
