Hi, I am a face climber, trying to learn crack climbing. I can place gear and build anchors that I feel safe with, it is the actual climbing part that that I have troubles with. I know the techniques are different, and the best way to learn is to climb a lot of cracks, but I don't even know the basics. usually on a face climb I feel pretty confident into the mid 5.10, yesterday I fell out of a 5.7 crack, and struggled on two others. If anyone has any information for me(other than climb a lot of cracks) I would love to hear it. Thanks

Go to your local climbing shop and buy a book on crack climbing. Read it and study the pictures, then go out and practice the techniques on the rock.

I dont do much w/ crack climbing, but I heard that you put your hand in flat w/ the crack, then bend your fingers, to create a jam type thing...

Go to Google, type in 'crack climbing' and read the first 3 links. It may take a little while on the rock before everything clicks.
