I was just wondering how many people out there wear socks with there climbing shoes? What are the benefits if any of doing this aside from the cold?

I dont wear socks when climbing. And If I had to guess I'd say 95% of people on here dont. I dont like to wear them because my feet tend to " slide " around in the shoe...it only took one time of wearing them to know not to do it again!

way back in the day when i used to have to hire shoes, then socks were not compulsary but from my viewpoint almost mandatory, now with my own super duper disease free shoes i dont wear socks, (climbing being a rare occasion i even wear shoes i dont like to clutter my feet up with extra things)

I'm 1/2 and 1/2. I sometimes wear socks (thin liner type) when it's hot to help absorb sweat ank keep my shoes smelling sweet!

I wear regular cotton socks because it make my shoes tighter! Plus it keeps my feet dry. I started wearing socks after i got my second pair of shoes, but now i won't go without them. It keeps me toes happy.

I only wear socks to keep out the cold, or as a little extra protection if i am climbing in a super jagged crack. Otherwise, going barefoot provides greater "feel" for the rock, and there is much less foot movement, inside my shoe.

I didnt wear any socks before,,, but the shoes that I bought about a year ago stretched and now they are a bit loose when I wear them without thin socks... So I wear thin socks 95% of the time..

Bouldering/sport - no socks Trad - liner socks (keeps sand, etc from giving me blisters, and keeps the sweat a little more manageable) Aid - boots and socks, heh Of course I also wear different kinds of shoes for each one, so hey.

My climbing shoes are to tight to fit socks. I do have a old pair of semi-stretched out shoes for easy climbs, that fit much better when I wear socks though.

The best thing about going barefoot is at the end of the day when you get in the car you make the others that did'nt drive wish they had beacuse your shoes smell so much.

I usually either forget to take them off or forget to put them on. However, in general the feeling of socks in a nice, tightly wrapped shoe feels just so mighty fine!

i wear socks if its cold. though my feet get kinda sore from the shoes being so tight with socks, so i loosen my laces at belay on multipitch. i need to pick up some super thin liner socks. i prefer going sockless, you do have a better feal for the rock, though the sock feeling is not to bad either.

I wear socks. Very very thin socks. I don't feel like I lose any sensitivity, and after a long hot day my shoes aren't as slimey, which means I can edge without my feet rolling around in my shoes. With socks, my shoes don't smell as bad and last longer.
