Put the sticky side on your skin...

JK... Have you tried washing your hands first? How 'bout wrapping the tape a little tighter? You may need to get a different type/kind of tape that has more adhesive on it. Have you tried white "hockey" tape?

Good Luck!

My tape didnt stick very well either but I was making a tape glove with it for crack climbing so it didnt need to stick after I was through.

Tape and chalk do not mix. This is probably the likely situation concerning your part, as this would happen to me many times in the past until I (rather slowly - as usual) caught on. The chalk works negatively against the adhesive of the tape, this causes the tape not to stick to your fingers as well.

One must either wash their hands (if they had haphazardly forgotten to do so before chalk was placed upon their hands) firstly, before taping up, or simply tape up before chalking up (preferably before a climbing session - it can most definitely last longer this way).

Also, concerning Dann's (duskerhu) post if you tape your fingers slightly tighter than usual, you can create certain problems and almost sure discomfort (as this can mainly result in cutting off the circulation of the fingers previously taped - naturally).

Hope this helps. Happy climbing!

If you aren't allergic to iodine, apply some tincture of benzoin first. It is sticky even when dry, so don't put it were you aren't going to tape. Be careful, it will burn if it gets into cuts on your skin.

I can't believe someone else is on to the "hockey tape". Way to go duskerhu! That stuff sticks better than any other tape I"ve tried. It's CHEAP, and tough. The tape gloves I make from it usually last two seasons. I've only been able to find it in 1" widths, but I don't need wider. Pushfurther if this stuff doesn't work for you, your not washing the vaseline off your hands first

I've also heard it helps if you shave the hair off your fingers. Sounds stupid, but it allows the tape to adhere to your skin better.
