I'm flying into SLC on 10/30 to pick up a car and will die of a broken heart if I can't do some climbing for a day or three while I'm there. I'm looking for an experienced leader to climb with. Ideally we would do some multi-pitch trad up to 5.8 or 5.9 (which I can lead). Looking for fun, not epics. Please let me know if you're interested and we'll make plans. You can e-mail me at jbell@bellfs.com, pm me or post a reply. Thanks!

Well, (un)fortunately (for you) it has been dumping snow in the high country for the past week. Brighton resort is opening on Oct 30. The rock is too wet to climb, and too warm to turn to ice. Can you push it back a few weeks? By then it will either be warm and dry, or cold and icy. Bring your gear this weekend if you wish, but make sure it is of the snow riding variety.

If you can't find anyone, you can join me and a couple of my friends in Ogden, we will be climbing at the northern end of Schoolroom wall ( http://rockclimbing.com/photos.php?Action=Show&PhotoID=7313 ) If you want to join us email me at scotteagan@hotmail.com we will probably start hiking around 11 am so we could meet around 10:30. We will be climbing sport, single pitch 9's to 11ish. the area may not be classic, but is quite good, and should be in the sun.

If the only place you hit in Utah is the Ogden area, your opinion of Utah climbing will be pretty poor. Weather is lookin like nobody is going to get out climbing much for a while though.

cyanamid, I would be very curious to know where in Ogden you have climbed, I don't think the rock is the absolute best at School Room, but for quartzite it is much better than Big Cottonwood.

A couple of places, 9th St., Schoolroom, 26th St. boulders etc... I guess I have a bias, never really cared for quartzite. As I reread my post I realize it does sound a bit like I'm calling Ogden climbing garbage (not the intent) I don't really care for Big Cottonwood a whole lot either (goes back to my bias). If I am driving as far as Ogden anyway, I'd prefer to take another hour and run up Logan Canyon for sport, really dig the limestone. Again not bashing Ogden, but when people rave about the climbing in Utah, its not usually what they are thinking of. The original poster was looking for multi-pitch trad though, given that he is going to be in SLC I doubt many people would suggest Ogden over Little Cottonwood in that category. Sadly, for what weather.com is telling me, looks like rain (and snow) all over the Wasatch the weekend jbell2355 is planning to be here. A real shame too, lots of good stuff to be played on. My apologies for the thread hijacking.

I can completely understand what you meant, if it wasn't for the weather I would be in Logan canyon this weekend, but as it looks now I'll be in a gym :( . I live in logan so if you ever need someone to climb with up here during good weather pm me, in the summer we ussually go to the cave once a week and to blacksmith on the weekends.
