Hmm, Beal makes a belay seat that packs up into it's own bag about the size of a tennis ball - I don't know if that is too large to your standards.

First time I was in the Valley I pimped a cheap plastic stool/seat thingy from the Curry Village showers (whilst pimping a shower). Removed the metal legs, cut slits in the corners, slung it with some 1" tape, and voila, an anatomically fitted, comfy, free seat.

I've been looking into making one for a while, but just havent gotten round to it. My idea was to make one out of 9/16" webbing and a double layer of ripstop nylon, but I'm not to sure how the nylon wil hold up under weight. Anyone out there that made thier own? Ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

If you have a very large ass or want something more hammock-esque, have fun making it. Otherwise, just buck up the $23 for a 3-point Fish RumpsakŪ, and save your production time for stuff that's not commercially available. Or climbing!

Thanks for posting that. Its the first time I've seen that design. It seems like it could be a lot more comfortable than the other I've seen. Seems easier to make as well & probably wont take more than a hour or so.

Yay, more money for roadtrip.

Dude, that's jacked. Were you born a troller or did you learn that later on in life?

Ah but I'd really like to see someone modify a toilet seat. "Rock!.... (*splat*)"

Mountain Equipmentn Co-op - MEC- in Canada has a design nearly identical to Fish's rumpsak.

3-point with the central point between your legs and this loop is adjustable in length; stuffs into its own pocket.

I've deployed mine....... mm....... maybe 100 times, and the lightweight nylon and 1/2-inch flat webbing have no significant wear.
