Hi, With some friends we are planning a road-trip in AZ in december. At some point we will be in Sedona and we would like to climb the mace, I have already found some photos/beta on the climb (route, gear to bring), but not much on how to get there ... can someone give us some info on road directions (from sedona), where to park the car, is the trail marked and easy to follow ? Thanks, Greg

The driving directions to Cathedral Spires is on this site in the route database. The appproach is easy and very obvious, though it looks long. If you climb the Mace, bring a jacket even if it is warm at the base; the route gets no sun and it may be very windy in the chimneys near the top. Fun climb, though it is a bit of a grunt at times.

You'll also need to pick up a Sedona Red Rock Parking Pass -- $5 for this contrived lil bullshit fee is part of the Federal "fee demonstration progam" implemented at any USF parking lots and trail heads. The following link details info about how and where to pick one up: http://www.redrockcountry.org/redrockpass.htm Ed
