(Insert quick apology about searching rc.com for similar posts, not finiding any, but still being certain that they do exist.)

I know Thermarests cannot be stored in a deflated, rolled up position, but I just got a chair kit for mine, and would like to know if it's ok to leave it set up in the chair kit. It would make sweet dorm room furniture.:D I have a Prolite 3 Reg. and a Lite Chair kit. Thanks all.

I would still release the buckles and store it flat whenever possible.
If you keep it in the "chair" position, it could crease it or defore the foam.

why cant you store them in a rolled up deflated position? they lie like that in the shop for months at a time (packaged in cellophane from th manufacturer) so what diffrence does it make if you roll it up in a drawer?

I have stored mine in the "Ultimate" chairs for years. Just unbuckle them and store them flat as previously mentioned. Periodically you'll have to take the chair cover off to empty out the dirt that inevitably gets inside.

To reduce the "funk", therm-a-rests are best stored flat and with the valve open. This helps any moisture you introduce by giving it a few puffs of air for hardness to escape. They also will self-inflate more readily if they're stored inflated.

Yeah, supposed to be stored inflated so that bubbles retain their memory and self inflate more. I store mine compressed to save space and the only possible downside is that you may have to put a couple extra breaths in it to fill it up. Not a big deal!
