PROFILE PICTURE: Pneumatic cannon forces cucumber against school-Itís all the rage. My newest pneumatic cannon decided to see if one young cucumber was up to the challenge. The challenge to joist Lord Beaverbrook High School at 350 fps! The results, a hole through the brick wall and one proud cucumber (I wish). I've been chillaxination climbing for about a year and a half, mainly bouldering. I sometimes boulder up to V5 or V6 when I'm feeling zesty, but I usually don't lead above 5.11a (successfully at least). My other outdoor activities include whitewater canoeing and C1-ing, mountain biking, snowboarding, backcountry/telemark skiing and winter camping, and backpacking. I am involved in many other interesting hobbies such as making pneumatic cannons, advanced pyrotechnics, rocketry, photography, playing guitar, and cinematography/ digital video creation and editing. I'm currently working on a movie with some friends about climbing and all the other stuff we do. In terms of music I listen to, I love older metal and some new rock; my favorite bands being Pantera, Ozzy, Iron Maiden, Smashing Pumpkins, CKY, Alice in Chains, Weezer, Pink Floyd, Foofighters, Incubus, and Metallica. Basically, this is the third pneumatic cannon I have made, and as the name suggests it uses pressurized air to launch projectiles of various sizes monumental distances. Here I'm lobbing a can of pop. My long-term goal is to break the sound barrier by projecting a cow or a tub full of swine of estimated mass a hippo-and-a-half (Yummmmmmmmm, swine). Of course, these will be flight capable livestock with wings, rocket powered appendages, or capes; so there is no worry about them getting puddingasized on the landing. I am currently a whitewater-canoeing instructor with ARCA certification (I work for Bow Waters Canoe Club and the Rocky Mountain Paddling Center). I generally solo a Dagger Ovation, and I paddle open boats to class III-IV both tandem and solo. I do some C1-ing, and I hope to purchase my own or make a kayak conversion soon. My main academic interests are physics and chemistry, although I also enjoy writing, and I plan on being a Mechanical/Aerospace engineer when I'm older (unless I become a mountain bum, start a good band, or become an extreme sports cameraman ;D ) GUITAR GEEK HOSER LAND: I attempted to describe most of myself in one photo since I just got my digital camcorder and I have no digital pitures of me climbing yet. The result was a lot of clutter and an unaesthetic hozer playing guitar. Included in this photo is some climbing, paddling, telemark, and snowboarding gear, as well as a box full of topo maps and two pneumatic cannons. If I where to try this stunt again I think I would take a picture of a grape... No, a soy bean with a halfro. As ALL MY CLIMBING PICS ARE ON PRINT/SLIDE FILM (being non-digital of course) I will have to show other pics until I get hold of a scanner. What I might do is go cold weather bouldering or building free-climbing so that I can get some climbing images on here right away. Be hozed naught, Take off eh, and don't be a knob. Letís get us some beer, some STRANGE BREW; Canussian brewery is on it's way to a lair near you. Here I'm shooting a golf ball (which cleared the school ground and traveled about 400m) *No children, elderly, banyan trees or Arraigns have been harmed in this sport. If youíre a fellow Calgarian or someone who has any other reason at all to talk msg. me or keep vigilance at the Calgary Climbing Center, On the slopes, In the Backcountry, or of course Hanging off Cliffs and On the River in the summer. Moo Cow Mrafenra
