Interests: Training and keeping fit. Besides climbing: I swam and played water polo a long time ago at Fenwick H.S.,Oak Park,IL. I cross-train now. Laura is a "retired " level 9 gymnast. Laura, graduated May,2018,Medical College of Wisconsin. Now a Resident in combined Family Medicine/Psychiatry Program. She graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern University. Lisa is a "retired" Elite tumbler and made the U.S.T.A. National Trampoline and Tumbling Team.Lisa attended Lake Forest College, IL. Lisa played handball for the Lake Forest College team. Lisa worked for World Chicago, a non-profit organization. Graduated magna cum laude-- did an immersion study at Peking University, Beijing, in Mandarin Language for her Mandarin Language Minor. Lisa now attends Georgetown University Law School. Down-hill skiing. Kids keep getting great grades--have to keep takin' trips!!!!! Since learning how to ski in Wisconsin and the U.P. of Michigan, we have skied the following areas: Telluride,CO--Steamboat,CO--Breckenridge,CO--Vail,CO--Winter Park,CO--Keystone,CO--Beaver Creek,CO--Copper Mountain,CO--Alta,UT--Snowbird,UT--Park City,UT--Brighton,UT--Solitude,UT--Jackson Hole,WY--Squaw Valley,CA--Mammoth Mountain, CA--Heavenly, CA--Sun Valley, ID.--Grand Targhee, WY--Killington, VT.--Big Sky, MT.-- Skill levels:Blacks to some double-blacks. An occasional terrain park or two.....ouch. We also enjoy some canoeing and kayaking, as well as some off-road, single-track and mountain biking. Backpacking, described below.

Climbing and Backpack/Scrambles: 2004 to present (2017):--2004;-Devil's Lake, WI quartzite bluffs--top-rope (5.4-5.10c). Climbed Baxter's Pinnacle,Teton National Park, WY, August 2, 04 with 10.5 and 12.5 yr. old daughters, Lisa and Laura; & Nancy F., our Exum guide. OUTSTANDING! Backpack trip:Wind River Range, WY...... -----2005; Laura and Lisa are 11.5 and 13.5. Climbed indoors all winter. Spring climbs (5.8-5.11c) Devil's Lake, WI--- Looking forward to climbing the Grand Teton in August. Backpack trip:Wind River Range, WY...... -----Sept. 2006, daughters are 12.5 and 14.5 years old. Stopped short of the Grand Teton (8/2005) summit by intense August snow storm. We climbed the 5.10? crack variation of Baxter's Pinnacle.--+another Wind River Range backpack trip. Also, in 2006, we climbed routes at Devil's Lake,WI,- Draper's Bluff,IL,- Red River Gorge (Left Flank),KY, -Little Cottonwood Canyon (Lisa Falls) and Big Cottonwood Canyon (Dogwood Creek area and Narcolepsy Wall),UT,---some moderate Wall Street routes--Moab, and the Kane Creek Canyon (Ice Cream Parlor area)--Moab, UT. Backpack trip: Northern Uinta Range, UT...... -----August 2007: Climbing: Logan Canyon, UT,---City of Rocks, ID---Rock Canyon, Provo, UT---Laura and Lisa 13.5 and 15.5 now--quite the climbers!!! Backpack/camp trip: Sawtooth Range, ID McGowan Peak/Stanley Lake trails...... -----June 2008: Red River Gorge, KY, some routes Roadside Crag, Playground, and Gallery--- August, 2008: Red Cliffs, MT-- Avalanche Gulch, MT-- (Blue Collar wall, Alien); Sheep Mountain area,MT-- Had beautiful day for Class I walk-up and picnic on Sacagawea Peak, Bozeman,MT area, 8/4/08. Recommend this walk-up for a nice 3 to 4 hr. outing on a clear day if in the area. Lisa 14, Laura 16--good athletes!!!Some extended hikes and camping in Yellowstone,WY...... ----July,2009: climbing with daughters, Laura (17) and Lisa (15). Climbs-mostly moderates:Golden Cliffs, Golden, CO; Eldorado Canyon, Boulder, CO;IronClads,Roosevelt National Forest nears EstesPark, CO. Hikes/scrambles: Navajo Peak couloir/Isabelle Glacier, Indian Peaks Wilderness area, CO;South Ridge of the Gregory Flatironette, Boulder, CO...... ---August,2010: climbing with daughters, Laura (18) and Lisa (16). Climbs-moderates: Owens River Gorge, Bishop, CA (early AM starts, heats up quickly); Clark Canyon, Mammoth Lakes, CA. Hikes/scrambles: Half-Dome summit from Muir Trail, Yosemite, CA great day hike!!! Labor Day weekend: short quartzite moderates at Devil's Lake, WI..... ---August,2011: Climbed with daughters Laura (19) and Lisa (17). Warm-up climbs at the Salmon River Slabs, OR, then travelled south, climbed more moderates at Smith Rock State Park, OR. Great park and friendly climbers cliffside. Hikes/scrambles: hike up the Cooper Spur of Mt. Hood. Heard some great "summer sounds" emanating from the Elliot Glacier, and saw a couple of skiers come down from the top! Must have been a nice ride, but seems to be a lot of work??? ---August,2012: climbed some moderates first, at Wild Iris, and then at Sinks Canyon, WY. My daughters, Laura and Lisa, were with me. Finished up at the Hoback Shield the last afternoon up at Jackson.Short trip;Lisa starts college early.."freshman orientation". Met friendly climbers at all three areas.Watched some climbers send some sick routes. Something to shoot for... Hung out for a bit in the Teton National Park. -----July,2013; top-roped some routes at the Swan Slab at Yosemite after hikes. Spent a couple of days climbing at the Alabama Hills, CA. Moderates. Very interesting location. We were lucky and had "cool" weather after a break in some light rain. Laura now 21+ and Lisa 19+. Attempted access to Clark Canyon near Mammoth, but will need Jeep, ATV, horse, or elephant :) at an eroded section of road leading into most areas we were interested in. Bummer: we climbed this area in the past and enjoyed the sport routes in Clark Canyon.... Will be back........ Fall, 2015: Top-roped Devil's Lake ,WI . Attended AAC weekend fest. Summer & Fall, 2016: Devil's Lake WI climbs--- August 2016: Guide's Wall Cascade Canyon, Teton National Park, WY; very enjoyable multi-pitch climb. Good rock and great views! Will definitely come back with my daughters, Laura and Lisa. June, 2017: Devil's Lake, WI-some Old Sandstone routes with daughter, Lisa and friend. August, 2017: topped out Guide's Wall, Cascade Canyon, Teton NP, WY--great rock & weather. August, 2018: moderate sport routes, Mad River Gorge, OH....--- September, 2018: Guide's Wall, Cascade Canyon Teton National Park, with daughters Laura and Lisa,-- finished short trip with moderate climbs Rodeo Wall, near Hoback Junction,WY
