I suppose everyone has a piece of landscape somewhere that s/he finds captivating beyond words, and mine is here in the Rockies. I can't altogether account for it (...). All I can say is that the canyons, peaks and walls have seized me like a helpless infatuation when I first saw them and will not let me go. The same holds true for climbing, even though I've only just started. I'm hooked and I can't WAIT to explore my 'backyard'.
