I started climbing just over 10 years ago. Growing up in Houston didn't help my development much, but I went to college in Utah where I did a lot of climbing.
Now I am doing graduate work at Texas A&M in College Station. There isn't a lot of climbing near by, but there is climbing wall at the Rec Center.
Crack climbing is my favorite kind. I am learning to like this overhanging, crimpy limestone stuff they have in Austin. I suppose that is where training int he gym comes in.
A hobby I have that has sprung out of my climbing interest is the making and modifying of headlamps. My first and only (so far) epic involved the need for more and better lights. I learned my lesson and perhaps have gone overboard. If you want any advice or need any other headlamp help, I am the one to talk to.
