Nice Watch 4 out of 5 stars

Bought this one purely b/c it was on sale about 3 years ago. I've used this for hiking and backpacking.

Replaced the batteries twice in that time period. Altitude seems to have a 100-200ft deviation if you have an 8000 ft elevation change. I don't know how this compares to other watches but to me that's an ok deviation before recalibrating. Temp isn't weather temp if the watch is on your wrist (body heat) - otherwise the readings appeared to be consistent when comparing to other thermometers. 3 alarms which is nice. The face did get a few scratches.

I'm giving it 4 stars because I'm overall happy with it for rec use but the face did get a few scratches. If the face was scratch free, I'd give it a 5.

Unimpressive for such a costly watch 1 out of 5 stars

I bought this watch because I thought that as a soldier it would be a valueable asset for my job. To be honest I have been more satisfied with a basic Ironman and military compass.

The first week out in the field the watch face was so fragile it became scratched to the point I could no longer read the numbers (which when I sent it back after only owning it for 2 weeks was told it was no longer under warranty and had to pay another nearly $100)

When I got the new watch the dial fell off when I rubbed it against the refrigerator door, and now the face is scratch again after rubbing it accidently against the wall!!! (not to sturdy)

In theory this watch sounds great but everyone I have talked to in the military that owns this watch expresses the same issues; even measurements such as the temperature are routinely off by 20 degrees

I couldn't recommend not buying this watch more strongly

So far I like the watch. Although the sensors work well and I like the watch overall you must constantly adjust the settings if you want accuracy. This does not include the compass though and that is what you need if you find yourself lost. If you keep the watch settings properly adjusted then this watch is awesome. It does take some time to learn the ropes with this watch so study the manual. Also, Suunto in my experience has great customer service. (they replaced one watch with a brand new one not questions asked) Batteries don't last long and are about $10. DON'T push the buttons under water, this is bad! One last thing, I chose this watch over other brands because Suunto is known to have very accurate sensors compared to others such as the Casio Triple Sensor.
