I agree with all of the other reviews. I love the fastpack option with only the fly and footprint. Very satisfied with this tent.

As the price of this tent came down this year, I have to give it a 5. The size is great - lots of interior space to sit up, play cards or whatever. The larger size does mean that it is a little heavier (I have a lighter-weight tent for extended backpacking trips) and that it does catch the wind, but I just make sure that I angle one of the stronger corners (one of the 2 corners with the pole crossing) into the wind and do a good job of staking it out. In a huge wind storm (in which the fly of my buddy's TNF tent was shredded at the guy-out points) just below tree line back in March, my Meteor Light hardly flapped at all. I like the huge front vestibule and the big doors on either side, and the stash-door system is very cool. The only addition I would make, is that I would add little retention-straps at the sides of the front-vestibule (the front door and the back-vesti has them, why not the front-sides! - the darker-blue panels beside the front door in the photo above) so that they can be kept open and out of the way without staking it out.

But this is a small issue for a great tent.

I have had mine since 1987. Can you say durable? Lots of space and the weight is fine for a two person backpacking tent. Good Ventilation. It does tend to flap in the wind and the wall will push in on you in a strong wind. I had to replace the Fly in 1999 because in 1988 I got soot on it from ships smoke stack while sleeping on deck in the Greek Islands. The Floor is now starting to lose its waterproofing. It has been a great tent. If I were looking for a backpacking tent to day, I would look for a small size and lighter weight. With all that said, it has been a great tent. The best $160 I could have spent.

Good tent. Decent weight. Easy to setup and take down. Sleeps good, good ventilation, large door. Decent sized vestibule. Rent one and try it out!
