Started great, ending too soon 4 out of 5 stars

Review by: common, 2008-05-18

My girlfriend bought me a pair of these for my birthday. I climbed in them three times a week for a few months (all gym except for one outdoor weekender), then had to let them rest when work got busy - I only used them four times in the next few months.
I just brought them back to the gym to start gearing up for some summer trips and the toe has a giant horizontal crack in it. Literally, I took them out of my bag, looked at the shoe and said "WTF?" It's a huge shame, apart from the funky green color my feet turn after each use, I love these shoes. But somehow I don't think there should be a crack in the toe rubber in under 50 uses.....
*Note: I do have to acknowledge that these were about a half size too small, though I don't know if that's the reason for the crack in the rubber.

I waited a couple of month's to right this review to give the shoes a chance to break in or break down. These shoes are great for smearing but don't edge that well. It may be that I ordered a size that will allow me to wear them all day. The rubber is fantastic. I really like climbing in them, but they take some getting used to (they are very stiff). I am also happy to report that I haven't had any problem with the construction of the shoe. I would probably order a half size smaller (I ordered the same size as my street shoe, for comfort). They also turn your foot a weird shade of green by the end of the day. But all in all, a great shoe.

Holy smokes! People, let me tell you, this shoe is a fine piece of work! I got these to replace my Anasazis for hard sport and bouldering, but when they came they fit so well out of the box that I was a little dissapointed, thinking that they wouldn't work all that well on the hard stuff and religated them to all day duty. However, During my recent trip to Red Rocks, they preformed with equal aplomb on hard redpoints and boulders as they did in fingers to fist sized cracks! No more crushed toes for me! I love these shoes for everything I do. The rubber is superduper sticky and really gives me conficence whether I'm standing on friction fourty feet above my last piece or setting up for that big huck to the topout jug. A+

A great fit, but material problems 2 out of 5 stars

These shoes seemed great till the rubber ripped open in the toe, after a few weeks. Which I got a new pair, and a few weeks after that, there was a tear in the leather on the top of my toes. Which the last pair I got lasted sometime, and now the rubber is coming apart on the bottem.

These are my first climbing shoes and they molded just after 2 days. I recomend these shoes for those who have wide feet.
