Review 5 out of 5 stars

Review by: blazesod, 2006-07-03

Purchased a double set of small hexes (pre-wired) and Single Un-slung large hexes.
-
Pro: Very affordable alternative to cams. Many placement options. Color coded for easy use.
-
Con: Can take longer to place (than cams). Small hexes were more difficult to remove after falling on compared to large nuts.

I got size 4-7, they are very cheap and placement is very good.Too bad they aren't on dyneema, more something for a beginner or someone with a small wallet...

i don't know. i'd probably give them a 2.5 if i could. they work. the dyneema is nice- im sick of the wired hex craze. in my experience they work just as well as a bd hex. i'd guess they're just copies, but a little thicker, and with sharper corners. the downside is that they are unbelievably heavy for a hex, and lightness is the only reason i'd carry a full set these days.

on the other hand, they are seriously cheap. if you are seriously badly strapped for cash, sure, buy a set.

i sold mine, and will put the cash towards a lighter set for alpine climbing. im leaning towards the wild country hexes, although they dont get quite as big as the BD. full set of WC hexes is 87 dollars.

These are an item i would recommend to any one
easily placed only one complaint that the bar tack on the webbing is outside the hex.

Works great! Pretty inexpensive and I like how they do. Took some falls on them and havn't had any blow yet. Easy to tell if you've made good placement due to the flat sides. Good deal..
