Review 5 out of 5 stars

Review by: rainontin, 2006-09-13

The V10 is my all-time favorite shoe. It doesn't fit me the best, it isn't as comfortable as others, and they aren't always built as well as some, but when it comes down to performance they blow every other shoe out of the water. The fit isn't bad; a half size down from my street shoe size eliminates any pockets of air while still managing to be somewhat tolerable to wear for short periods of time. The rubber over the toes on the new models keeps the toebox from stretching and the shoe from losing it's shape, but it is also a little uncomfortable on the tops of the toes and makes the shoe a little less effective on vertical climbs. The extra rubber on the heel is great and doesn't effect the fit at all. I'm not a big fan of 5.10 as other brands have higher quality construction, are cheaper and more comfortable, but I always come back to the V10's because they are so damn sticky and precise. The shoe for steep climbing and hard bouldering. 4.95

I own quite a few pair of shoes, but none of them matches the sheer power of the V10's. Yes, they can be uncomfortable. But then again, so are most other performance shoes in the market. If you're looking for a second or third pair to do steep overhangs, then look no further. Nearly undefeatable in the gyms.

I love these shoes. First the last is really agressive and unlike my Testarossas they don't flatten out over time. They are such confidence boosters, you stick the nose of these suckers on something and you know it is going to stay, also on really good footholds you can really pull in on them because of the toe. I have the new ones with the rubber on top and more rubber on the heel and like it alot. One thing is I would give it a more pointed toe like the Testarossas.

I love these shoes! They're damn painful at first, but it's just like that dude in the movie "The 13th Warrior" said: "Grow stronger!" Anyway, these puppies are super sticky and they heel hook pretty well. Not as well as lace ups or even velcros, but pretty well for a slipper. They're sized kinda small, so make sure you try on a pair before you commit to the buy.
