Fantastic tent 4 out of 5 stars

Review by: altelis, 2007-06-12

This tent is amazing----the convertible function is fantastic for those of us wanting to save a little money and not have to buy 2 tents. Its says for 2, and it sleeps two comfortably. If you are using this for mtneering purposes you can sleep three very warmly, just not much extra gear room---but thats what the vestibule is for, right? Only downsides is that in order to make it convertible it is a little heavy as a 4 season tent. The extra netting and zippers on the roof are slightly offset by the fact that the mesh on the door zips off, but still heavy none the less. If you aren't in a buggy area buy the ground cloth---being able to set up the "tent" with just the fly, poles and ground cloth is an amazly light feature for warmer alpine trips where bugs aren't an issue but rain/snow is. Only real complaint is that this tent lived up to SD reputation for having ABISMUL zippers. In three years of moderately heavy use EVERY zipper has had to be replaced by SD. Be anal about not getting sand in the zipper!!! Otherwise this tent breathes very well, sets up fast, is BOMBER in heavy wind and snow (survived a tornado warning!). Fantastic buy overall!

Great tent for high country! It's first use was in very cold weather and it actually kept us warmer with the fly one. Very good since our bags only went to 32f !
