Good Starter Shoe
Review by: BHSPitMonkey, 2009-03-05
I found these very comfortable (though still effective) after letting them stretch to my feet. I never needed to take them off between climbs. After a year of ownership, including lots and lots of indoor climbs and probably 10 solid days of outdoor bouldering, my toes are exposed. I owned the tan-colored model.

Excellent all day shoe. Unfortunately, the newer ones aren't as wide as the original. Which were perfect for my paddle feet.

I have 1 pair of the original models (maroon) and 3 pairs of the 2nd version (EVA heel). They all fit like a glove, and I have had little problem with smell (all climbing shoes smell after awhile...) I am a bit dissapointed to see that they have abandoned the EVA heel after such a short run though. I thought it was an awesome idea, and it is so much more comfortable to land on when bouldering.

The tan colored Huecos shown above are pretty sweet! I just bought a pair about 2 months ago and my feet have been extremely happy. Their main strength is good all-around performance with major comfort. Unlike some beginner-friendly shoes, these are not stiff and clumsy. The only major drawback is the lack of an extremely pointy toe. However, this is also one reason I love them, since I wear a size 13 US street shoe and decided to ditch my slippers for something more comfy.

These are good shoes but I liked them better in their fisrt incarnation when they were red and shaped a little bit wider.
