The best magazine there is on alpinism. Well... the Mountain Info on British High Magazine is good, too... Don't expect to find any sport climbing between the covers. Instead, you'll find beautiful pictures of remote places, long stories and rough opinions.

The tool for belaying from above. Works perfect when belaying the second, good for rappelling and racks small in your harness (unlike reverso). And it's cheap, too.
I can only recommend it if you do some multipitch, though. If you don't do multipitch you don't need one.
