They don't edge as well as the 5-10 guide tennies, but they hike much better and offer more protection on the heels and sides than the 5-10's. I've only climbed 5.5-5.6 in them and they worked fine, just felt flimsy (which is expected, since they aren't rock shoes), but I have weak toes anyway.

The Guide Tricks for Climbers videos cover almost everything I have been dying to learn since I first started climbing. I have every book on climbing technique and rope work and they really suck compared to watching it done by a AMGA rock guide. I enjoy climbing a lot more because these videos and some practice gave me a big boost in confidence.

I've had the Cinch for a while. It works well for belaying seconds, hang dogging, and new guys giving me a lead belay. It's lighter than the Gri Gri and can take a smaller diameter rope. On ropes 10,5mm and above it doesn't feed as well as a Gri Gri. Lowering with it is not fun either, since it's very tricky to get your speed just right and not scare the hell out of your partner. The more I use it, the more comfortable and proficient I get, just like with any new device. I would take a Cinch over a Gri Gri for sure.
