Great comffy shoe with one flaw. 4 out of 5 stars

These are very comfortable shoes, good for all days climbs and wide cracks. I've used them in the Creek and up the Steck/Salathe. They are stiff enough so you don't crush your feet in that size of crack and they edge pretty well.

The one flaw I have noticed is that the stitching for the eyelets is not very durable and wore through fairly quickly. This meant that the outside front eyelets unraveled and the lacing was less secure. I fixed this with super glue, but it is something that Madrock should improve on the next models.

Gear Loops 3 out of 5 stars

This harness would get a 5 from me for it's comfort and ease of use, but it has one serious flaw, the gear loops. They are well placed and large enough, but by placing the fabric part on the outside, with a plastic stiffener within they are vulnerable. I like to climb in the Creek, and naturally do many corner lay-backs there. Doing this you tend to rub the side of your harness against the rock, and this friction ripped through the right gear loop. It later broke, fortunately not while I was climbing. I love the harness, but I can't trust it on trad routes anymore, especially long ones.

A very light and easy to handle rope. The only things i've seen are that it tends to twist very easily and that it's sheath frays quicker then other ropes i've used.

These shoes are for people like mysely who have wide feet. They are good for all day crack climbing and are decent edgers however they don't smear particularly well, as is normal for board lasted shoes. The one flaw in their constuction are the links you run the velcro through. The tend to shift out of place when the velcro is pulled tight. Overall I'd say they're a good shoe for the price.

I've had these shoes for about 2 years now and have had them resoled twice. The first time after a couple of months and the second time after about a year. Madrock changed the rubber and it's wearing at a much better rate now. I have wide feet and the fit very well, although the laces were too short until i replaced them. I would definitely recommend these shoes as long as they come with the new soles. You can tell the difference by looking at the ridge on the sole. If the edge is beveled it's the new design.
