Axis Rope, Long term ownership. 4 out of 5 stars

I've owned my Axis for over 5 years now. I've put some decent miles on it. Not extreme every weekend, but a good amount. But after 5 years it has held up really well. Lots of cragging, lots of leading and Top Roping. Rough rock at JTree and Alabama Hills. Not really worn, abraded, or fuzed out. Still use it for everything. Might have been a little stiff at first, but broken in just enough. Not too soft.
Recommended.

Guide Book Review 4 out of 5 stars

Book is invaluable for info on the area. It covers a large diverse area, and lots of crags. There are errors, and it could be better.
However, I've gotten up many a climb and scouted the crags with the info there in. Would have been lost with out it.
Impossible to find in the store anymore, and even more in need of updating. But if you find one, don't think twice, grab it.

I got the 5, 6, and 7 to supplement my 1-8 Metolious 4CU's. They would be the next sizes up, as it were. Someone else noted the issues with the trigger wire on the outside of the Ucables, and when I first got them, I found it annoying also. Leaving only a tiny lip on the trigger outside the U cables to grab. However, when I used the #5 climbing, I had no issues with it. Was easy to place while leading, and I placed it on all 3 pitches of the climb. The #5 didn't seam to walk, but I was only leading, used extra 12" runner, and not cleaning. Haven't had the opportunity to use the #6 and #7 yet.
Overall I am happy with #5 to date. Finish is nice on all of them, but spring and trigger action not as good as Metolious.

I bought this for my two boys, 6 yo and 3 yo. It is very easy to adjust to the different heights.
After playing around with hanging off the swing set in the back, we have used it to climb several times and adjusting it is realitively painless. I've also used for a freinds 7 yo daughter.
The boys have done more hanging in it, than climbing in it. But if they get comfortable in it on the rock, I'm fine with that. Speaking of comfortable, the padded leg loops are great, and the boys have no problem just hanging in the air for 5 - 10 minutes just swinging.
Well worth the couple of bucks, and a lot less expensive than other brands, I spent at gear express. Would buy again.
