I would have given these shoes a 4 had the rubber on the sole not ripped after only two months. Now they get a 2 for the less than adequate reliability.

I used the hookers mainly inside and they performed pretty good for shoes that cost me less than $80. The rubber on the upper above the toe is excellent for toe hooking but the downside is that out in the sun they get real hot on top. An aggressive heel cup is great for heel hooking and the dual density rubber makes it easier to grab small holds with your feet. However, I think the dual density rubber does reduce some of the smearing ability of the shoe.

I bought my pair a size up from my street shoes but they still hurt the top of the big toe at first. After a month, the rubber stretched enough to be quite comfortable. Also, I think it helped that I figured out how to get fully into the heel cup.

When Mad Rock increase the quality of the rubber, I'll recommend these shoes. Until then you may have to spend a little more cash on a better quality pair.
