To begin with, this is a great shoe, edges great, smears ok (which is a given for a high performance shoe) and catches holds on overhangs like crazy. I sized mine rather agressively so they did hurt after one or two climbs. Definetly not a beginners shoe. If a begginer wants a slipper he or she should go towards the moccasym or other non-agressive slippers. Now with all that being said here is the reason I gave the shoe a 2:

The construction of these shoes are terrible. With only one pull tab its hard just to get the shoes on and off if you have downsized any. And with that my right shoe (the left one remaines flawless) had the pull tab rip off, and the inner lining on the heel rip in only two weeks!

Now after hearing that I don't want you not to buy the shoe just because one of mine was a dud. In fact I called 5.10 and talked to them about it and they were very helpful. I'm sending them my shoes and they are sending me a brand new pair. If my second pair dont fall apart I'm going to come back and change my rating from a 2 to 4.

Edit: I changed my rating like I said. I got my replacment shoes in and almost 4 days of climbing hard in them the pull tab started doing the exact same thing. I caught it though, and bomb-proffed the pull tabs by sewing over it about a thousand times. The shoes are now broken in(they are still painful) and are doing awesome.
I've also read that people don't think these shoes heel hook well, but I think they do. Maybe thats because mine are so friggen small that they stay on my foot well, but I think they heel hook amazingly. Thats just my two cents however. Hope this helped.

Great pad. Love the texture, feels like you can really get your shoes nice and clean before a climb. Also, I love the 3 1/2 inches of foam for all landings. The wrap around bottom is great and the only problem I've seen is that it can snag your foot on ultra low problems, and can trip you if you fall and your foot catches it. However if you take your time and tuck it under its not an issue and the pad is back to being amazing. Definatly would recomend over any cordless, bittersweet, or metolius pad.
