I've wanted a safe folding knife to carry on my harness. I've found it in the Buck Knife Approach Folder.

I tried to open it by jumping around and flicking my wrist and it would not open but it is easily opened using only one hand. The pivot screw can be tightened so the knife is easier or more difficult to open. It has a partially serrated blade and is very sharp. There is a large lanyard loop that you can fit a carabiner through.

LL Bean sells them for $27.95.

I received two of them for Fathers Day. The fit and finish were excellent. The tarps are large with two tie loops. It will easily hold my 60 meter 10.5 mm rope with room to spare. You can strap them on like a backpack, sling them over one shoulder or carry it by the carry loop on top. The carry loop also comes in handy when used to weight the master point so you can equalize it.

The Junior is very well constructed. The sole is thick yet flexible. My daughter loves her pair. The customer service at Bufo is excellent. They have a liberal exchange policy so if you order the wrong size, they will exchange them as long as you haven't used them.

I've got six of them (now 5 - my daughter just dropped one into the Potomac River). They are simple and they work well for belaying and rappelling. My children have one each for rappelling. They are inexpensive and work on the thick ropes that I use for top roping.

These are my second pair of shoes. Someone talked me into buying a pair of Scarpa slippers that make me cry every time I put them on. The Spire fits very well. I have big, wide feet and I can wear them for hours before they start to hurt. I'm a little disappointed in the smearing qualities of the shoe, I'm not sure if I'm not doing it right or the Spires just slip so I'm going to blame the shoes! Make sure you buy your first pair at a store where you can try them on and edge on something.
