While it's true that the Wisper Light is hard to dial "just so" if you want to simmer, I've not found this to be much of an issue: If I'm doing remote alpine/backpacking, I generally don't bring food that needs simmered. If I am "car camping" and have food that needs simmered, I bring a heat dispersal plate (available at REI.) Either way, I've found this stove to be reliable for my needs... melting snow and boiling water. The multi-fuel International is worth the extra few bucks, as White Gas isn't always available.

I've bought the first three sizes, and I prefer the feel of these to CCH Aliens, but I also noticed they are a touch shorter in the stem than Aliens. This shorter stem gives them more stiffness, allowing for easier "tricky" placements, but you do sacrifice deeper placements. A trade off, I suppose.
