This film definitely captures the experience of bouldering in two of the epicenters of the sport - Hueco and Font. The best thing about the film, aside from the great soundtrack, is the fact that it really focuses on climbing without overdoing the special effects or close-up shots of grip positions. This focus is first and foremost evident in the film's almost exclusive use of natural light, which adds a certain realism lacking in some climbing vids. Speaking of realism, it's also refreshing to see a variety of people (not all of them flashing V12s) bouldering, instead of one or two superstars. Beyond the movements of climbing, this film also does a great job capturing the emotions involved, as well as the human connections made through sharing a common passion. Very inspiring!

FIT: I wear a size 13 US street shoe, average width, and took a size 44 (US 10.5) in these. Snug but not painful, these lace-ups are downturned just the right amount for hooking and pulling. The shape of the toebox conforms to the shape of your toes (asymetrically) instead of wedging all the toes together in a V-shape as do many "performance" shoes.

STICKINESS: The Vibram XSV rubber that LaSportiva uses is sticky, but definitely not the same as Stealth. I will eventually resole these with Stealth once the Vibram wears out. The sticky rubber toe box that's common to these and their brethren the Venom slippers is pretty functional on overhanging stuff.

PERFORMANCE: Even now that they're broken in, the Barracudas are stiff enough without feeling too clunky, on one hand, or painful on the other. Surgical precision when edging and good enough friction on all but the diciest of smears, the Barracudas are my new favorite performance shoes!

The tan colored Huecos shown above are pretty sweet! I just bought a pair about 2 months ago and my feet have been extremely happy. Their main strength is good all-around performance with major comfort. Unlike some beginner-friendly shoes, these are not stiff and clumsy. The only major drawback is the lack of an extremely pointy toe. However, this is also one reason I love them, since I wear a size 13 US street shoe and decided to ditch my slippers for something more comfy.
